Dr. Herrera was born and raised in Laredo, Texas. Growing up, her passion for movement began early, as she played soccer from the age of six and went on to compete at the Division I level at Oral Roberts University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health and Exercise Science in 2017. Her background as a high-level athlete continues to shape her clinical approach, with a strong emphasis on restoring performance — not just reducing pain.
Dr. Herrera earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas State University in 2021. Following graduation, she obtained her board certification in Orthopedics (OCS) and completed her fellowship training through the American Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FAAOMPT), gaining advanced expertise in spinal and extremity manipulation, dry needling, clinical reasoning, and cupping techniques.
Dr. Herrera’s clinical experience is diverse and performance-driven. Early in her career, she worked in pediatric neurological rehabilitation, treating children with developmental delays, neuromuscular conditions, and movement impairments. This experience sharpened her understanding of motor control, neuromuscular re-education, and the importance of individualized, patient-centered care. Working with pediatric populations strengthened her ability to adapt treatment plans creatively while maintaining precision in movement analysis and progression.
She has also served as a contract physical therapist for the United States Air Force at Lackland Air Force Base and has extensive experience in performance-focused outpatient orthopedics. This broad background allows her to confidently treat a wide range of patients - from pediatric and adolescent athletes to tactical athletes and active adults seeking to return to high-level activity.
Dr. Herrera believes physical therapy should empower patients to be confident in themselves while restoring strength, resilience, and performance. She combines precise manual therapy with progressive strength training to help individuals move better, feel stronger, and return to the activities they love.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys staying active through sports, strength training, hiking, and traveling, as well as spending time with family and continuing to live an active lifestyle rooted in the competitive spirit she developed through years of athletics.
