Conditions We Treat: Overview

At Osteopractic Physical Therapy of the Carolinas, we treat a wide range of musculoskeletal pain, movement limitations, and chronic tightness — not just isolated injuries or diagnoses.

Many patients come to us after being told imaging is “normal,” after trying multiple treatments without lasting success, or when symptoms don’t fit neatly into one category. Our care is guided by how you move, where restrictions exist, and what is limiting your activity, rather than by labels alone.

Below are some of the most common conditions we treat. If you don’t see your specific issue listed, it does not mean we don’t treat it.

Neck, Head & Jaw Conditions

We commonly treat conditions involving the neck, head, and jaw — areas that are often interconnected and frequently under-treated.

  • Neck pain and stiffness

  • Headaches & TMJ dysfunction

  • Cervicogenic and tension-type headaches

  • Jaw pain, clicking, clenching, or tightness

  • Upper cervical and upper back stiffness

Low Back, Hip & Pelvis Conditions

Pain and stiffness in the low back and hips are often influenced by movement patterns, joint restriction, and load tolerance — not just injury.

  • Low back pain (acute or chronic)

  • Hip pain and stiffness

  • SI joint–related pain

  • Gluteal pain

  • Movement-related back pain without clear injury

Chronic Pain, Tightness & “Normal Imaging” Symptoms

Many patients experience persistent symptoms despite being told nothing is “wrong” on imaging.

  • Chronic muscle tightness

  • Recurring stiffness or discomfort

  • Pain that moves or changes location

  • Symptoms that worsen with stress or prolonged posture

  • Normal MRI or X-ray with ongoing pain

Foot/Ankle, Knee & Lower Extremity Conditions

Foot and lower extremity pain is often treated too locally. We assess how the entire lower body contributes to symptoms.

  • Plantar fasciitis / heel pain

  • Great Toe related pain

  • Achilles tendon pain

  • Ankle stiffness or instability

  • Knee pain of all kinds (activity-related or chronic) including osteoarthritis OA.

  • Tendon-related pain

Shoulder, Arm & Upper Extremity Conditions

We treat a variety of upper extremity issues, especially when movement restriction or muscular overload is involved.

  • Shoulder pain or stiffness

  • Rotator cuff–related pain

  • Tendonitis / tendinopathy

  • Elbow pain (tennis or golfer’s elbow)

  • Wrist or forearm discomfort

Preventative & Maintenance Care

Not all patients come to OPTC because they are injured.

We also work with individuals who want to:

  • Stay active

  • Reduce recurring tightness or pain

  • Address movement limitations early

  • Prioritize long-term physical health

Not Sure If We Treat Your Condition?

Many patients come to OPTC unsure whether physical therapy is appropriate — especially when symptoms are vague, intermittent, or don’t have a clear diagnosis.

If you:

  • Feel restricted or tight

  • Have recurring pain

  • Have tried other treatments without success

  • Want to move better or stay active long-term

There’s a good chance we can help.
